🗞️ AI News of The Week: Apple Picks Google Gemini for Siri

Apple Partners with Google for Gemini-Powered Siri Apple has officially announced a multiyear partnership with Google to use Gemini models as the foundation for a major AI-powered Siri upgrade launching later this year. This collaboration will leverage Google's cloud and model capabilities while Apple continues to utilize its own on-device processing and private cloud compute.

  • Gemini Foundation: Google’s Gemini models will power the new iteration of Siri, unlocking innovative experiences for users.

  • Hybrid Infrastructure: The deal integrates Google's cloud strengths with Apple's existing privacy-focused on-device models.

  • Open AI Strategy: Apple confirmed this new deal does not change its existing partnership with OpenAI regarding ChatGPT integration.

Mike’s Take:

  • Surprising: Apple seems to be prioritizing user experience of ego by outsourcing AI to Google and not trying to build their own solution in-house. Almost seems like Apple realizes how far behind in the AI race they really are.

  • Big Win for Google: Gemini gets onto billions of iPhones validates Google's model quality and keeps them neck-and-neck with OpenAI in the race for consumer AI dominance.

  • Is ‘Dumb’ Siri finally over??? Let’s face it…Siri is still terrible. Will Google Gemini finally make Siri good?

🧠 AI Term of The Week: Context Window

Context window is the maximum amount of information an AI model can "see" and process at one time. When you chat with Claude, everything in that conversation (your messages, Claude's responses, uploaded files, tool outputs) takes up space in this window

👉 Once you exceed the context window, the AI starts "forgetting" earlier parts of the conversation as new information pushes old information out.

For Vibe Coders:
You can now show Claude your entire project structure, multiple configuration files, error logs, AND have a natural conversation about what you're trying to build - all simultaneously. The AI "sees" everything at once.

Pro tip: The bigger the context window, the more you can "show not tell." Stop writing lengthy explanations - just dump your files, configs, and logs into the chat. Let the AI's context window do the heavy lifting.

Bottom line: Context windows transformed AI from "helpful assistant with amnesia" to "collaborative partner who actually remembers the whole project." That's why vibe coding works in 2025 but would've been impossible in 2022.

🧰 AI Tool of The Week: Claude CoWork

Claude CoWork took the AI-Nerd Internet by storm this week. It’s in ‘research mode’ so it’s only available on the Claude Max Plan for now, but it should be rolling out to the Claude Pro Plan users soon. I’m ready for it…it looks pretty awesome.

What is Claude CoWork?:
It’s basically Claude Code (my favorite AI Tool) for dummies. Claude Code is used in the Terminal while Claude CoWork is available in Claude Desktop so it’s easier to use for those who do not like using the Terminal/Command Line.

Why did Anthropic build CoWork?
Claude Code was built for developers/coding to use in the Terminal, but dummies like me took it over and started using Claude Code for everything. Anthropic recognized this and built Claude CoWork for the dummy crowd for everyday tasks while trying to differentiate Claude Code as the coding tool. It’s intended for documents, file handling, writing, etc.
