Anthropic just restored Claude Fable 5 after a two-week export control suspension tied to a cybersecurity safeguard bypass.
On June 12, the US government applied export controls to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after Amazon researchers found a way to prompt Fable 5 into identifying software vulnerabilities, and in one case, demonstrating how to exploit one.
Anthropic suspended access for all users while it worked with the government to close the gap. As of July 1, Fable 5 is back for everyone on Claude.ai, the API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, backed by an improved safety classifier and a new industry-wide framework for scoring how dangerous a jailbreak actually is.
